Membership of the DSRC
Membership: DSRC has approximately sixteen members drawn primarily from the academic community and selected both
for their technical depth and their broad familiarity with a wide range
of disciplines. The Council endeavors to maintain a balance between the
interests of DSO and MTO. The Council seeks to maintain a few Members
having industrial affiliations.
DSRC Fellows: Two outstanding young scientists (typically under 40 years
old) are invited to join the Council each year as DSRC Fellows. Their
appointment is for two years.
Terms: Except for the Chair and Associate Chair, whose terms are for
four and six years, respectively, Council Members are appointed for a
two-year term. Based upon performance and needs of the Council, the
appointments may be renewed for additional terms. Up to four DSRC
members may be rotated off the Council every year.
Senior Advisors: The DSRC will appoint a small number of Senior Advisors
who are former Council Members with a long record of outstanding service
to the Council. The Senior Advisors provide strategic direction to the
Council and advise the DSRC Chair and Associate Chair. They do not serve
as Chair or Co-chair of Studies or Workshops. The Senior Advisors are
appointed for a two-year renewable term and do not count against the
limit on Council membership. Senior Advisors are encouraged to
participate in the Winter and Summer meetings and may participate in up
to one study topic each year.
Red Team: The DSRC will appoint up to 3 Red Team members who will assist the Council in ensuring that studies and related activities are of the highest quality and of maximum benefit to DARPA.
